Gasoline/Kerosine Storage

A huge hole in my prep efforts is lack of safe fuel storage. My immediate plan is to get a weatherproof storage shed for the backyard and store my kerosine and gas cans in that. It's not the optimum solution, I know, but dear wife would get rather nervous about burying 55 gallon drums of gas in the backyard! What is the shelf life of gasoline stabilized with Pri-G?
Thoughts?

PRI-G will store for quite a while. The real question is whether or not you have reformulated gas in your area. It tends to not store nearly as well.

If you plan to store gasoline, make sure you are using gas from that on a regular basis, rotation along with PRI-G is the only sure way with gasoline.

the storage problem with gasoline naturally leads in the direction of looking for a diesel powered vehicle.
I decanted a 5 gallon can storage dated 1996 today into the bobcat, ran it through a filter -funnel for inspection..... looked good. bobcat is running fine. 12 year storage.
I have used 2 year old gasoline with no problems.
I have a motor home that will start up with 10 year old gasoline in it, but it runs pretty poorly, and is hard to start.

My mom found out a guy upstairs in the condos was keeping gallons of gasoline. Not because he's prepping, but because he's an IDIOT! She called the condo manager and the fire department. Both paid the guy a friendly visit. The insurance company had treatened to cancel insurance just because of bbq grilles on patios. What would they do if they found out a guy was keeping gas in his house? :confused_ma:

I put up 500 gal in 99 with stabil. Still works fine, but a couple of the drums developed cracks due to fatigue from flexing as a result of hot. cold cycle.

kerosene/diesel can be stored indefinitely, need to re-stabalize them yearly(if your storing over a year), 500gal farm fuel tanks can be purchased around here NEW for under $600 so i keep a couple of these at the shop and use out of one at a time. i have not had any issues with alge growth in my fuel

Gasoline....i have stored gasoline in metal container up to 5 years but i Pri-G them every year...as follows:confused_ma:

I have a large boat (gasoline) i drive very little with a huge metal fuel tank that i havent refilled in over 5 years that i Pri-G every fall, that still starts and runs fine when i need the main engines or generator to run.

My shed gets too hot in the summer/daytime. It's got a couple vents, but both are up high near the roof peak. Maybe a lower vent near the floor would allow some convection in there, I don't know. I keep a small can with mower gas in there, and some days in the summer I go to mow the lawn and the (plastic square) gas can is blown out into a sort-of ball shape until I unscrew the lid.

I ended up just putting my gas cans and propane bottles cans in dark colored trash bags and then just stuck them under the deck on the side of the house. There's latticework around the deck bottom, and it's dark enough under there that the bagged cans aren't visible if you're more than a few feet away and not really looking for them. The ground is high and gravel-covered, and each can/bottle sits on its own 12"x12" patio stone besides, so they won't rust sitting on the ground or get frozen stuck in the winter. Additionally there, the bagged cans are shielded from direct sunlight, and won't get nearly as hot there in summer as they would if kept in the shed.
